Brits looking to feel more upbeat should perhaps consider investing in property in Brazil, as the country has been named as one of the most optimistic in the world in a new survey.
Gallup International’s ‘Global Barometer of Hope and Despair’ survey asked the opinion of 64,000 people in 53 countries, finding those in the growing BRICS nations – including Brazil – were most hopeful about the year ahead.
In contrast, UK residents were shown to be particularly pessimistic, with just 23 per cent saying they believed life would be better in 2011, compared to the worldwide average of 42 per cent.
