Sao Paulo is a favourite among people looking for Brazilian property because of its “incredible nightlife”, according to an expert.

Heather Carswell, a spokeswoman for Lonely Planet, said that aside from the main cultural attractions, visitors will enjoy the variety of bars, nightclubs and live music venues which have something for every taste.

Referring to other places to visit in the region, the expert stated: “40km south-east of the city the town of Paranapiacaba is worth a visit. Founded by the British-owned Sao Paulo Railway Company it has retained distinctly English traits, right down to a rough replica of Big Ben.”

Recently, STR Global highlighted the popularity of the Americas when it published figures on hoteliers.

It showed that May finished with a 4.5 per cent increase in occupancy rate to 61.6 per cent, with Sao Paulo seeing an average daily rate increase of 35.3 per cent.

Furthermore, revenue per room was up by 9.4 per cent for the month.
